Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise

The Enterprise Edition of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 is an e-mail transport server and groupware system that is optimally tailored to the needs of medium-sized companies. Compared to its predecessor, the product has numerous new services, functions and technologies designed to support companies in designing their communication channels.

Thanks to a wide range of tools, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise simplifies work both in work groups and at the global company level and helps to keep processes transparent, clear, cost-efficient and flexible. The software not only enables appointments and e-mails to be managed and filtered remotely, but also supports access from mobile devices. Since version 2013, Microsoft Exchange Server has had an integrated virus scanner so that e-mails with harmful content do not even reach the mailbox and thus potentially cause damage.

Efficient collaboration across workgroups and departments is crucial to corporate success. Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise supports easy collaboration with a completely redesigned user interface. Both the connected Microsoft Outlook 2013 and the Outlook Web App have undergone a facelift in this way, with the Web App in particular being geared towards mobile end devices with touchscreens.

This gives users the ability to merge contacts from multiple sources across platforms and benefit from improved search results. These in turn are based on the "Intelligent Search" integrated in Exchange Server 2013, which evaluates cooperation and communication behavior and thus automatically delivers the best hits.

Probably the biggest difference between the standard version and Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Enterprise is the number of databases per server. While the standard version only allows 5 databases per server, the enterprise version in the RTM version (CU1) has up to 50 databases. In CU2 and higher update versions, up to 100 databases per server are possible.

There are also other functions that are only included in the Enterprise Edition, such as decryption of the journal, powerful Data Loss Prevention (DLP), significantly expanded ActiveSync Mobile Management policies and a separate mailbox archive. However, the prerequisite for the latter is Microsoft Office Professional Plus in versions 2007, 2010 or 2013.
